Meet Nicole Faut, WAW’s Newest Harrisonburg Lawyer

WAW Welcomes New Lawyer to Our Harrisonburg Team

HARRISONBURG, VA — Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC is pleased to welcome Nicole D. Faut as the newest Harrisonburg lawyer in our employment law and civil litigation practice areas. A Valley native, Nicole brings nearly a decade of experience advocating for clients and protecting their rights, making her a valuable addition to our law firm.

An Experienced Employment Law & Civil Litigation Attorney

Nicole’s broad experience prepares her to make an impact for WAW’s clients across the Shenandoah Valley. She earned her Juris Doctor from the City University of New York School of Law in 2018 and her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech in 2012. Prior to joining WAW, Nicole practiced plaintiff-side employment law at the National Women’s Law Center and a well-established labor firm in Washington, D.C., and at the Communication Workers of America in New York City and Washington, D.C. She returned to the Harrisonburg area in 2020, and worked for several local law firms and served as a solo practitioner before joining the WAW team.

Why She Chose The Law

Nicole’s primary motivation in pursuing a legal career was to serve ideals higher than herself: justice, truth, and the rule of law. She chose her practice areas, employment law and civil litigation, because the work helps vindicate the civil rights of individuals and repair the harms of injustices. Still, she finds fulfillment in any case where she can help right a wrong.

“I love that every case is different and each has its own unique challenges, that law is not static – it changes and can be changed.”

Nicole’s Servant Leadership Shines Beyond The Courtroom

Nicole’s commitment to helping others extends well beyond her clients. She currently serves as the President of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Bar Association and as the District 7 Representative for the Virginia State Bar’s Young Lawyers Section. For these and many other volunteer pursuits, she was recognized with the Significant Service Award from the Young Lawyers Conference in both 2023 and 2024. This demonstrated track record for excellence will not only benefit WAW’s clients but the Harrisonburg community at large.

A Harrisonburg Area Native Back To Serve Her Home Community

“Practicing law allows me to be a creative problem solver and to make a large impact in people’s lives.” – Nicole D. Faut

Nicole grew up in McGaheysville, VA, and was an accomplished debater and forensics competitor at Spotswood High School. These experiences formed the foundation for the persuasive communication skills she brings to her practice today. Throughout her academic career, Nicole was also recognized with several highly competitive scholarships, most notably, the Gates Millennium Scholarship and a Fulbright Fellowship.

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her son, caring for her cat and farm animals, cooking, and painting. She’s also an avid collector of wooden jigsaw puzzles.
