I draw on my background in hospitality to maintain a service-oriented approach to advocacy.

Charles “Wil” Russell applies strong problem-solving skills and out-of-the-box thinking to serve clients in Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC’s Civil Litigation practice area. Wil joined the firm in 2025, bringing with him hands-on experience from a judicial and several law firm clerkships, including serving two circuit court judges in Staunton and Waynesboro. This experience trained him to cut through complexity and address legal issues quickly and effectively. Wil’s considerate communication style fosters clear and honest relationships with others, which is an invaluable strength he brings to WAW’s team and clients.

Wil Brings A Service-Based Approach To Legal Problem-Solving

Prior to his legal career, Wil worked in hotel management for six years. He draws on this experience, which focused on proactive and anticipatory service, to maintain a client-oriented and wide-lens approach to advocacy. In his free time, Wil enjoys fishing of all types, including fly fishing, bass fishing, saltwater coastal fishing and deep-sea fishing. This may in part be because he was raised on a sailboat and did not live on land until he was 18 years old!
