Brostek Recently Attended an OSHA Conference

Derek Brostek, an attorney at WAW, attended the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section’s 2016 Midwinter Meeting in Santa Barbara, California from March 8 to March 11. This conference is the premier annual event for OSHA compliance and enforcement. It is attended by leading figures from government, industry associations, employers, and law firms who represent employers. Key speakers included the Solicitor of Labor Ms. M. Patricia Smith and the Asst Sec’y of Labor for OSHA, Dr. David Michaels. The conference covered recent trends in OSHA enforcement and employer defense of OSHA citations.

Derek is part of WAW’s national OSHA defense practice, along with Tom Ullrich.

Franklin Teaches CLE

Humes J. “Tripp” Franklin taught a CLE in Richmond early this month.

On December 4th our managing partner, Humes J. “Tripp” Franklin, taught a continuing legal education class entitled “How to Try a Case in General District Court” for new lawyers who attended the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys’ (VADA) new lawyer seminar in Richmond.  The VADA offers this one-day Boot Camp each year for new attorneys.  It is an opportunity for them to expand their knowledge and receive continuing legal education (CLE) credits.  The VADA was first organized in 1968 to offer education, information and networking to Virginia attorneys.
